Fae-tastic or Flop? My Thoughts on How to Fake It with a Fae

When I picked up How to Fake It with a Fae by Amy Boyles, I wasn’t prepared to be completely swept away—but I was instantly hooked. This book took me on a rollercoaster of character-driven charm, laugh-out-loud humor, and just enough whimsy to keep me glued to its pages.

What I Loved

First and foremost, the character building in this book was phenomenal. Compared to other adult fantasy novels I’ve read this month, this one stood out for the depth and connection it created between the characters. Amy Boyles managed to strike a perfect balance between humor and heart while putting the characters through increasingly chaotic (and hilarious) situations that made me fall for them even harder.

One of my favorite things about this book was how seamlessly the author introduced new characters who will continue to feature in the next book. I was already invested in them by the time I finished, and knowing I’d get more of these fun, vibrant personalities in the next installment had me itching to pick it up immediately.

The Storyline

The plot kept an incredible pace, weaving together moments of whimsy, steamy romance, and just the right amount of chaos. Watching the characters deal with their increasingly dire circumstances only made their bond feel more real and engaging. What started as a “I’ll just read a few chapters” kind of night quickly turned into me devouring the entire book in one sitting. I simply couldn’t put it down!

What I Hope to See Next

There are only two books in the series so far, but I really hope Amy Boyles chooses to write a story for every sister introduced in this whimsical world. Each sister brings such unique energy, and it would be an absolute treat to follow their adventures—and HOT love stories—in future books.
