Updated: Mar 10

Celaena dives into the shadows, facing betrayal, deadly choices, and a mission that tests her loyalty. Justice or survival—what will she choose?

📖 The Assassin and the Underworld – A Novella Review 🔥

This novella dives into Celaena Sardothien’s world as she takes on a high-stakes mission from her Master, the King of the Assassins. This time, she’s thrown deep into the kingdom’s shadows, where the brutal reality of the slave trade forces her to confront just how twisted the system really is. Armed with her lethal skills, she fights back against a powerful force, but it’s not just about the battle—it’s about the choices she makes along the way. This novella gives a closer look at Celaena’s mindset, her assassin abilities, and the blurred lines between justice and survival.

What I Loved:

One of the things that completely won me over in this novella was Celaena’s love for theatre and music. Talk about cultured! 🎭🎶 There’s this simple yet stunning scene where she’s standing alone in a theatre, and I can’t get it out of my head. It’s moments like these that make Celaena such an interesting character—she’s this deadly assassin, feared and dangerous, yet she still has a heart. Maas has this way of peeling back her layers in every story, revealing something new in the most subtle, yet powerful way.

⚔️ Everything Celaena’s been through—rescuing slaves at Skull’s Bay, making friends in the Red Desert, and falling in love for the first time—has been building up to this. Maas has spent these novellas setting the stage, but by the time the fourth one wraps up, it all comes crashing down. It’s bound to happen, and honestly… I can’t help but be a little excited to see how it all plays out.

I just know we are in for a treat with the next novella! 👀🔥
